There is nothing like a big Striper or Hybrid on your line !

There are many ways to catch Stripers on Lake Norfork.
This will be a simple overview of the methods most commonly used.

If you are just visiting - and want to make sure you catch Stripers - we suggest you hire a Guide.
You will spend a lot of time and money figuring out how to do it yourself unless you are experienced fishing this type of lake.
A Guide almost always can make sure your first outing is memorable.

If you are lucky enough to move to this area, or establish a way to come here often,
the Lake Norfork Striper Club can help you learn all the ways our Members use to catch Stripers.

Our Member Resources contain a lot more How-to Tips on catching stripers,
but here are a brief summary of the FOUR most common methods used:
1. Casting - in Top Water or shallow water. This method can be productive April - June as the Stripers follow the Shad up into the creeks to spawn. A Floating Lure works for Top water. One that sinks or dives is needed if the fish are shallow but not feeding on top.
2. Vertical Jigging - using a Sinking Spoon such as a Bink's Spoon or One-Eye.
3. Trolling - As the Stripers settle into their Summer Pattern - below the Thermocline - Finding Schools of them, and then trolling an artificial bait through them works.
2. Bait Fishing - When the other methods fail, this one almost always works. If you can throw a net - the best bait is Shad - wild caught from this Lake. (you really have to know how to keep them alive and lively - it's not easy) You can buy Shiners and Brooders from local Bait Shops.
